About Us
Our sheep venture began in the late 90's when we tasted Icelandic meat at a friend's house.  By August of 2000, we had our first ewes.  Using purebred Icelandic rams would produce tasty meat and create unique fleeces for hand spinners.  The lambs were a good size, too.

Having no prior background in agriculture or livestock, we found grass growing a challenge, especially with the droughts in this valley.  Then we discovered management intensive grazingNow, with irrigated pastures, our sheep are contained in electric netting during the grazing season, and regularly rotated to new grass areas.  For the first time this year, we grazed successfully until Dec. 1st.

Wolf Ridge Lamb and Wool will soon service the restaurant industry as we guarantee them a quality, healthful product.  Individual buyers know the benefits of naturally fed lambs with no grain or concentrated feeds.

In the winter of 2001, a wolf was spotted on the ridge of our property under Emigrant Peak.  The predator was only within 500 yards or our sheep, but chose not to attack.  That's how we created our company name:
Wolf Ridge Lamb and Wool, LLC.

Thanks for the visit, and we hope to hear from you!

-Barbara Gunness, flock manager
